I
grew up in Illinois
farm country and joined the Navy in 1960 when I was 18 years old.
My first duty station was the Naval Hospital
here in Portsmouth. On a blind date I met a beautiful blue eyed
blonde from Portsmouth and she captured my heart. I cast all my anchors
at her front door. We were married in 1963 and have three children
and six grandchildren. In September of 2007 God chose to take my
wife Sue to be with him. His decision left me with a big hole in
my heart and time on my hands. Fortunately, He led me to Olde Towne
Art, where I met a whole new family of wonderful people. Every
artist
here is willing to share their time, talent, advice, and most of
all their handshakes and smiles with me. It is a wonderful place
to get inspired to create something beautiful.
I
became interested in painting in 1974 while stationed in Italy and
took art lessons there for about a year. I have studied painting
here in Portsmouth also. I work with oil paint on canvas and enjoy
painting Natures landscapes and seascapes.
I
have just started painting florals and want to learn to do portraits.
I also enjoy wood carving which allows me to create in 3-D. Painting
and wood carving requires one to use their head, hands, heart, soul,
and sometimes with a slip of the knife, a little blood to be creative.
What a joy it is for me.
If you have the urge to paint, try it! Who knows what you can do! Come to Olde
Towne Art in Portsmouth and we’ll help you get started.
