My name is Sharon Backus Hanson, but I go by Sarah. I've been an artist all of my life and always knew that was how I wanted to spend my energies. When I married very young it kept me from attaining a college degree, but I was determined to continue my studies and took all of the art courses Va Tech had to offer except for painting.... and while we raised our children and I later
worked in offices, my art talents were constantly
being put to use for others.
In 2007 I began to work part time at Olde Towne Art in my own studio, and step by step came to a full time devotion to the painting that I had avoided but to which God had called me. I work in oils and acrylics. I teach group classes and individual lessons,
and I love what I do!
